NO WAY!!!

My son has said NO WAY to me about one million times in the last week. It is getting on my last nerve! I have asked my mom and Nick where he could have gotten this from. No one had any idea. He had just gotten into the habit of saying “no thank you” and it has turned into “no way”??? What has happened to this child? In the last month he has been sent home from school twice, had numerous time outs and has now lost his manners. I don’t expect a perfect child, but a polite one would be nice.

So last night I was in the kitchen cooking dinner while Eli was in the living room watching Go Diego Go. I was peeking in on him from the kitchen and listening to make sure everything was going okay in there. And what do I hear Diego say??? NO WAY!! In about a minute of the show I heard this 3 times! Okay, I have learned my lesson. No more Diego! (I never did like him anyway, but I let him watch it b/c Nick said I was being prejudiced against the “Hispanic” cartoon.) So now I am saying NO WAY to Diego!!! Ha!

No Scare Fair

I will post pictures after Halloween, but Eli is the cutest little doggy I ever saw! He went to the No Scare Fair (a non-scary indoor trick or treating event held every year to raise funds for local charities, mainly the Haven House which houses victoms of abuse) on Saturday and quickly learned that if you walk up to the door and say Trick Or Treat – - – You get CANDY! He had never even heard of candy until Saturday and now it’s his favorite thing! He was so excited about his bag of candy that when Nick drove up to the house, Eli grabbed his bag and met him at the door to show it to him! How cute is that!!

I voted today on my lunch hour. I want everyone to go vote! I’m not going to tell you who to vote for, although I will if you really want me to, but just do it! It took me less than 10 minutes to go in, vote, and be on my way. I will be watching CNN, Fox News and more as Nov. 4th gets closer.

I have heard from everyone! I am so sorry! Somehow you get out of the habit of typing blogs and everyone gets on your case! Well, I’m back. Here is a quick update since I last blogged. Disney World was a lot of fun. Nick and I really needed that alone time! Eli has started the terrible two’s. He was sent home from school one day (I call this Out Of School Suspension) for hitting and the following school day he bit someone!!! Hopefully we are now out of this stage, but we continue to remind him not to hit, kick, push, pull, bite or hurt anyone before we go anywhere!!! Anyway, I’m Back!!!

First, I want to explain Eli’s forehead! If you see us in the next few days, just know that I don’t abuse my child. . . he fell at preschool. No sooner did I get signed onto the computer at work on Monday, did I get a phone call from the preschool director. She said that he had fallen and it looked pretty bad and she would like me to come by and check him out. When I got there his face was red from crying. He had the biggest egg in the middle of his forehead and it was already purple and blue. He is fine, but it does look pretty bad and with his fair skin tone and his blond hair, it really stands out!

I have a girls night out scheduled for tonight and I can’t wait! It is a bunch of women from church and we are going to eat at Bella’s. I haven’t been there in the longest time and I can’t wait to see what is one the menu (I’m sure it’s changed since I have been there last). We aren’t meeting until 7, so I will only be missing Eli’s last hour of the day.

I have 2 more work days until we go to Disney World! I am excited, but am starting to think about all the things I have to do in order for us to be able to go. (Mental note: laundry, buy dog food, order birthday cake for coworker) Nick is starting to get excited, too. We also got the letter in the mail yesterday wanting us to go ahead and book our ski trip for this winter. I am not ready to think about that!

Granny fell again this week. I have been thinking about her a lot lately. We are lucky that someone found her and was able to call my mom and help her. I have been praying for her and hope that if something happens again she will remember the button she can press for help. I hate to think about her falling and not thinking that she can get help.

What is a perfect day?

If you were to peak in my windows tonight around 8pm, you would probably see a very silly sight. I will be in front of the TV with my NCSU football jersey on and my headphones on. I know. Nick threatens to take a picture of me doing this. He says it is quite funny.

If you know anything about me, you need to know that I LOVE STATE FOOTBALL! That is no understatement. I look forward to the games. Every game. I change plans, miss weddings (sorry ya’ll) and hire babysitters. I plan the food we are going to eat. We go early so we can watch the team warm up. I love the game. I love the fans. I love the smells. Did I mention that I love State football??

As you know from reading my blog, Nick and I have our 5 year anniversary coming up next month. I did NOT want to get married during football season. In fact, that was my only request when we were picking the date. But Nick picked the date and was excited, so I went with it. Until the football schedule came out. . . . I was going to miss the NCSU vs UNC game to get married. That is one game that you just don’t miss! Everybody picked on me for having picked this date 2 years before the date and it falling on one of the best game days. I still get picked on about that.

On our wedding day I had a bridal brunch at a friends house. I showed up in my football jersey. My hairdresser brought a tv to the salon so that I could watch the noon game while getting my hair done. State won. Before my dad walked me down the isle (I was wearing a state garter and a state bracelet) we did the dance that happens before the players come out of the tunnel at each home game. There were some other things that my dad and I said to each other before he was going to “give me away”, but we also said this:

Dad, I was always taught that a good day is when State wins. I also know that a perfect day is when State wins and Carolina loses. I am so glad I get to get married on a perfect day!

So in case you were looking outside yesterday and wondering what is a perfect day, you now have your answer.

Changes

Eli has changed so much in the last couple of weeks. It is amazing. He is back in school and getting used to the new schedule. I have already gotten about 4 pictures sent home from school that he has done. The two year olds take music. From the reports I have heard, he lets everyone else sing and he does the dancing. I think I may have an entertainer. He loves to be the center of attention, which is good and bad!!

I think a growth spurt is happening. His appetite is much like mine. HUGE!! For example:

I had told myself that I would write a post every day, or every other day. Obviously, life got in the way of my good intentions!!

Our fence is up. I love it. Nick still has to stain it, but he says that won’t take long. We have been outside every night playing. We slide, swing, kick the ball and run after Budah. Eli was so funny about the fence. He was playing and I don’t think he noticed it. Then he kicked the ball and it hit the fence. He turned and looked at me like “why did my ball stop?”. It was so funny!

We have also survived Eli’s birthday, Dad’s birthday and Mom’s birthday. I am super tired after doing everything and I am looking forward to the long weekend this weekend!! We have no plans (although I plan to try to sleep in one morning).

Nick and I are 22 days from leaving for Disney World. That means we are 24 days from our 5 year anniversary. I can’t wait! And I know that Nick needs a vacation.

Our first NCSU football game is 2 days away. This is my favorite part of the year. Football, warm weather and the holidays are coming up!!! Nick is a Duke fan and somehow has become a football fan this year. Imagine that. Our house has always been pleasant with the mixed marriage because I was the football fan and he was the basketball fan. I think he is trying to move into my territory. . . watch out!

I am now on the birthday countdown. Eli turns 2 tomorrow. It is hard to believe that it has been 2 years! He is changing everyday. I love it and I hate it! I still want him to be my little baby that will lay on my chest and sleep! He is saying new words everyday. He said his second three word sentence today. When Nick was leaving from dropping him off at Mom’s house this morning he said “Daddy truck bye bye”! His other sentence was in early July “Daddy where are you?”. How about some Mommy sentences??

We are doing a Mickey Mouse themed birthday party on Saturday. He loves the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on TV. I even got him some ears to wear. Maybe he will be Mickey for Halloween. I will probably wait to see what kind of weather it will be so whatever outfit I get will be for the right temp.

We also have a wedding shower party to go to on Friday night. Oh! And since Dad’s birthday is the same as Eli’s, we are going to dinner with him on Thursday. We also have a neighborhood yard sale / cookout on Saturday. So our weekend looks pretty full! I will probably be looking forward to our weekly family nap time on Sunday afternoon after church. Eli starts another year at school next week and I am hoping he is not the class bully again. . . maybe he has grown out of that. On top of everything else, we took him to the doctor yesterday afternoon and he has another double ear infection. He just finished his meds from his last ear infection 5 days ago. I do hope he feels better soon. Lastly, Nick and I are on the Disney World countdown. We will fly out one month from Sunday to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Boy does time fly when you are having fun.

I know this has been a lot of rambeling, but I feel like everything is coming up very soon and that things keep changing everyday with Eli. I will keep you posted!
